Description

Starting in auspicious fashion with a walk-off win in the season opener, the 1949 New York Yankees proceeded to go wire to wire for an American League pennant and their first of a record five successive World Series titles. This OAL Harridge ball was autographed by (26) members of that Bronx roster. The creamy orb has a handwritten date of “April 18, 1949” and features blue-ink fountain pen signatures averaging (“7”) potency. Includes: Sweet Spot: DiMaggio (“5-6” strength); North Panel: Sanford, Lindell, Silvera, Mapes, Houk, Lopat, unidentified; South Panel: Berra, Reynolds, Rizzuto, Byrne, Stirnweiss, Woodling; West Panel:  Brown, Crosetti (coach), Turner (coach), Raschi, Niarhos; East Panel: Keller, Johnson, Henrich, Porterfield, Bauer, Page, Dickey (coach). Full photo LOA from JSA.
