Description

Detailed description on website.

As the Phillies molded a roster for the future and hovered near the break-even mark throughout the 2002 campaign, these “throwback” jerseys were worn during home and away match-ups against the front-running Atlanta Braves. Reminders of the club’s 1970s-1980s rise to contention, the all-original garments show appropriate single-event wear. Includes:

Jeremy Giambi 2002 Philadelphia Phillies Signed Game-Worn Road “Throwback” Jersey: a light-blue knit button-down garment with the club’s script-style “P” logo sewn to the left breast in maroon-on-white satin twill. In like fashion, “7” is sewn to the back and right front, while “GIAMBI” is arched on a nameplate atop the back number in block-style characters. On the upper portion of the back “7,” Giambi has signed in black marker (“9” strength) and inscribed “7.” Maroon—and-white trim lines the shoulders and sides, a team logo patch adorns the left sleeve, while an MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Majestic” label and a size “48” flap tag. Within the left side seam, a fabric content tag has a “0062” gamer code. The style matches that of the team’s 1973 and 1987-1988 road jerseys, as previous Phillies blue road jerseys featured zippered fronts.

Ricky Ledee 2002 Philadelphia Phillies Signed Game-Worn Road “Throwback” Jersey: a light-blue knit button-down garment with the club’s script-style “P” logo sewn to the left breast in maroon-on-white satin twill. In like fashion, “33” is sewn to the back and right front, while “LEDEE” is arched on a nameplate atop the back number in block-style characters. On the upper portion of the first back “3,” Ledee has signed in black marker (“8-9” strength). Maroon—and-white trim lines the shoulders and sides, a team logo patch adorns the left sleeve, while an MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Majestic” label and a size “46” flap tag. Within the left side seam, a fabric content tag has a “0062” gamer code. The style matches that of the team’s 1973 and 1987-1988 road jerseys, as previous Phillies blue road jerseys featured zippered fronts. Signs of game wear include infield dirt across the front (likely incurred during a headfirst slide).

Jose Mesa 2002 Philadelphia Phillies Signed Game-Worn Home “Throwback” Jersey: a white knit button-down garment with a maroon pinstripe pattern and the club’s script-style “P” logo sewn to the left breast in maroon-on-white satin twill. In like fashion, “49” is sewn to the back and right front, while “MESA” is arched atop the back number in block-style characters. On the side portion of the back “9,” Mesa has signed in black marker (“9” strength). Maroon—and-white trim lines the shoulders and sides, a team logo patch adorns the left sleeve, while an MLB silhouette logo is sewn atop the back. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Majestic” label and a size “50” flap tag. Within the left side seam, a fabric content tag has a “0062” gamer code. The style matches that of the team’s 1971-1972 and 1987-1991 home jerseys, as previous Phillies home jerseys featured zippered fronts.
