As Exhibit enthusiasts are well aware, the much-beloved 1925 "World's Champions" set was the first to feature athletes other than baseball players, and it mostly put the spotlight on 1924 Olympic stars. Proudly presented here is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted period advertising piece that comprises 20 of the 32 cards in the set, including Jack Dempsey, Johnny Weissmuller, Ed Lewis, Gar Wood, Charles Paddock and Charles Jewtraw. Evidently used for display inside (or beside) an exhibit-card machine, the "collage" has each card slightly trimmed for its side-by-side, top-to-bottom arrangement, with an adhered strip along the bottom row of cards reading, "Put One Cent in Slot - Push Slide in then pull out slowly and receive card." The 12-1/2 x 27" mounted configuration has a VG display appearance with peripheral foxing, corner wear and a handful of minor creases. It is attached to a modern backing within a 14-3/4 x 29-1/4" wooden frame. This item has a reserve (estimated value $1,500 - 2,500).
