Detailed description on website.
As they breezed to the Northern Division title in the Class A South Atlantic League, the 1993 Greensboro Hornets got ample contributions from Nick Delvecchio and Matt Luke, both of whom launched a team-best 21 home runs. Oh, and there was a shortstop named “Derek Jeter” who added five round-trippers and, of course, went on to set all-time Yankee and postseason records. These (2) keepsakes were autographed by all three prospects during that 1993 campaign! Showcasing perhaps the earliest known Jeter signatures, the items include:
Baseball: a snow-white Official Carolina League sphere signed on a side panel in black ink by: Luke (“10” strength, inscribed “44”), Delvecchio (“9” strength) and Jeter (“7” strength).
Photo: a 4x6 color photo of the players posing at a shopping mall with a collectibles store owner. At the far right, Luke is wearing a Yankee cap. At the left, a youthful Jeter is standing with Delvecchio. All have signed in fiber tip marker (all “10” strength).
