Moore was the sly, bombastic "Old Mongoose." Patterson was the young, quiet "Gentleman of Boxing." Yet despite their differences—and despite Patterson's humiliation of Moore in their lopsided 1956 heavyweight title bout—there was much mutual respect between the two. Hence this photo with its fountain-pen "8-9" inscription and signature, "To Floyd / May you always be Champion / good luck / Archie Moore / 1-12-57." Light peripheral creasing and adhesive residue at the top and bottom edge from past mounting. Signed LOA from Floyd Patterson's widow Janet. Auction LOA from JSA.
