The inspiration for the famed “Rocky” motion picture and its sequels, the 1975 Heavyweight title bout between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner nearly ended in one of the biggest upsets in American sports history. Issued at the Cleveland Coliseum for that inspiring battle, this program was subsequently autographed by Ali (twice) and fellow champion Joe Louis. Ali has signed the front cover twice in black marker (both “8” strength) and Louis (d.1981) signed just above in red marker (“9” strength). Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
The eight-page program has a compacting fold (a common flaw to stadium-issued publications) which in no way affects the bold autographs. Covers and all pages are present. The center (scorecard) page is detached, but present.
