Description

Proof positive that antique proof coins are interesting and profitable to collect is found in this rare silver proof coin. Originally intended as samples for archival purposes as well as checking the striking dies, pre-1916 proof coins were not intended for circulation. Minted is a quantity of just 777 pieces the 1902 Barber Half Dollar proof is considered fairly scarce, especially at the grade level of PF66 which has been assigned to the offered coin by NGC. Rated at 7.7 on the leading rarity scale, this seldom offered proof date has an estimated population of less than 100 pieces at this level with only a handful higher. Displaying blazing luster and incredible original details, this significant coin has risen in value for more than 100 years and there is no reason to believe this certified blue chipper won’t continue to do so.
