The Dartmouth “Big Green” men’s basketball team’s sole claim to national dominance was achieved over a century ago. Bright and crisp, the offered handbill and ticket pairing are rare souvenirs from the 3/7/1906 contest vs. tiny Williams College, won by Dartmouth by a score of 26-7. Showing minimal wear, these amazing relics are truly a miracle of preservation. One more victory vs. MIT on 3/8/1906 would lead to an eventual retroactive National Championship proclamation decades later by the Helms Athletic Foundation. More on our website.
Dartmouth and Williams competed in 1906 as part of the newly formed IAAUS (Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States). This organization went on to become the NCAA in 1910.
