Led by four HOFers and a stellar supporting cast, the 1984 Boston Celtics were manned with enough talent for two starting line-ups. Recall the Celts 15th NBA championship with this commemorative watch. Issued at the behest of team president “Red” Auerbach to a friend of the team and fervent fan, this handsome Omega wristwatch is housed in its original box and presents in excellent condition. More on our website.
Following the Celtics tradition of celebrating championships with gift watches, this original team-issued classic is decorated on the watch face with the year “1984” at the twelve o’clock position and “NBA” at the six o’clock position in green, while the three o’clock position is taken by a day of the month date and the other nine positions are filled by basketballs. Centered on the face is a green shamrock with “XV” Roman Numerals on the top leaf, with “World Champion Boston Celtics” printed below in the field. Engraved on the rear clasp is the name of the watch recipient “Jack Guertin” and the date “June 12, 1984” corresponding to the clinching game of the 1984 NBA Finals. A segment of the clasp is marked with “1/40 10kt Gold Overlay Stainless Steel Omega”. This watch is accompanied by the original Omega case and papers as well as a cardboard box.
This is one of three presentation watches issued by the Celtics to members of the Guertin family. Please review our Basketball-Memorabilia category to view the other two lots.
