Before George Burke became the Cubs' official photographer in 1929, it was Francis Burke and his partner Atwell who documented the team's comings and goings—including these shots on the Cubs train for a 1916 Baseball Magazine article. The story (a copy of which accompanies here) was titled "The Last Word in Training Trips: A Glimpse at the Luxury Which Surrounds the Annual Jaunt of a Major League Club to the Spring Training Camp." Joe Tinker is the central figure in both oversized photos. Heavy creasing impinges little on the overall visual appeal. Tape reinforcements, stampings and handwritten editorial notations/captions appear on the reverse.
