Description

Owned by Ned Hanlon and managed by Otto Knabe, the 1914 Terrapins nearly won the Federal League pennant. But their most lasting legacy is no doubt that by swiping so many fans and so much gate revenue from the Baltimore Orioles, they unintentionally forced the O's to sell off their talented pitching prospect Babe Ruth to the Red Sox! Measuring 5-3/8 x 3-1/2" and produced by Chessler Co., this rare Terrapin Park postcard is postmarked 9/7/14 and was actually mailed from the sender to himself. Its bright central image area displays as EX with surrounding corner wear from mounting tabs. Minor mailing wear on the reverse.
